A fantastic opportunity for a Furniture Process Engineer to join a market leading manufacturing and production business in Dorset to develop their manufacturing process and technology. Client Details My client is a market leading growing bespoke manufacturing business in Dorset that process both natural and engineered materials to deliver best in class wood furniture interiors. They are looking for a Furniture Process Engineer to support their continued investment and drive improvement activities in both their manual spray and auto lacquer lines. Description The Furniture Process Engineer will analyse, review and implement improvement activities in both the manual spray and auto lacquer lines. The core remit will be to identify and manage improvements to both current facilities, substrates and applications, through to capital investment plans for world class results. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for: - Development and improvement of processes for manufacturing areas, supply chain development and field based repair. - Planning of manufacturing processes and equipment. - Leading operative quality improvement activities. - Collaboration with Interior Concepts and Design during new product development, with a full understanding of design for manufacture. - Secure change control for production trials and subsequent resulting improvements. - Develop, enhance and maintain product and process standards documentation. - Act as a facilitator throughout the production process. - Lead technical partnerships with both lacquer and substrate suppliers, current and future state. Profile - Furniture Process Engineer in an industry processing wood materials, in the manufacturing of world class/luxury furniture. - Knowledge of both traditional and modern lacquers and their application techniques from manual spray, curtain coating, flattening and polishing. - Knowledge of manufacturing processes for wooden furniture ie. veneer forming, sanding, lacquer application, flattening and polishing. - Knowledge of improving lacquer preparation and application processes. - Excellent problem solving skills, ideally six sigma knowledge. - High level of analytical skills and able to understand and develop different manufacturing concepts. - A knowledge base and network within the lacquer and furniture manufacturing sector (e.g.Hesse, IVE, Tikurilla, BASF, Cefla, Ercol). - Team player with good communications skills. - Able to lead and coordinate cross functional teams. - A hands on, sleeves up approach to leadership, able to operate in a large company with a small company mind set.
