I am looking for Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools based in South West / West London starting October 2017 on a short term or long-term basis. Secondary schools in South West / West London are looking for specialist teaching assistants to join their staff and provide cross curriculum support to students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
Your new role
You will be working with pupils across KS3, 4 and 5 as an academic mentor. You will need to be comfortable supporting students up to GCSE level, focusing on those striving to raise their academic attainment. Your role will be to support students on a 1-1 basis and run small group interventions supporting low ability and gifted and talented pupils. You will often be liaising with Heads of Departments and the school SENCOs. Experience of supporting students with a variety of SEN and Behavioural Difficulties is ideal but not essential. These positions offer real scope for training and professional development as well as an opportunity to make a real contribution to the education of individual students.
What you'll need to succeed
- Ideally be educated to a degree level
- Hold grades C or above in English and Maths at GCSE level
- Have experience working with young people in a school setting
- Be committed, flexible and able to use own initiative
- Have a good understanding of the national curriculum
- Be able to demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
- Have excellent communication and team work skills
- Remain enthusiastic and maintain a positive outlook
- Be a patient and an understanding supporter to vulnerable students
