We're looking for someone to lead our close-knit IT team. Responsibilities include: - Overall responsibility for IT and management of support staff - Overseeing and evaluating technical projects to meet company goals - Directing effective delivery of networks, IT systems development, and disaster recovery processes - Assessing business requirements to determine technology needs - Keeping up-to-date with, and advising on, technological solutions and overseeing their implementation, eg EDC (electronic data capture) for our wards and laboratory - Ensuring compliance of IT systems with EU GDPR (data protection) and other regulatory requirements - Preparing financial information and presenting proposals for capital projects to senior Directors - Working collaboratively with users and the validation team to implement and maintain regulated systems - Identifying and implementing methods to improve working practices in IT Person specification Essential - High-calibre graduate, preferably in computer science (or equivalent) - ITIL certified (Foundation or higher) - Up-to-date vocational qualifications such as: CompTIA Network+ ce and CompTIA Security+ ce - Several years' experience of managing the IT function in a medium or large organisation, including networks, security, and people management - Excellent technical knowledge of IT systems - Excellent communication and presentation skills, including clear and concise writing - N.B. all candidates must provide a 1-page covering letter - Excellent organisation skills, and a track record of delivering large IT projects on time - Credibility to command the respect of senior staff, sponsors and auditors - Windows Server experience Desirable - Experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry or a healthcare environment would be an advantage - CITP (Chartered IT Professional) - BCS membership - Knowledge of: - Microsoft Exchange Server - Microsoft SQL Server - Microsoft System Center - Veritas Backup Exec - Dell OpenManage - Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (GAMP), 21 CFR part 11 - Data Protection - EU GDPR About HMR We are a clinical research unit based in north-west London (NW10). When a pharmaceutical company develops a potential new drug, we independently test it for them in clinical trials in healthy human volunteers. Our unit is like a small hospital, with 3 large wards, a pharmacy, and laboratories. We have lots of networked medical equipment and computerised monitoring systems. Our 200+ staff includes doctors, nurses and PhD scientists. We are heavily regulated and audited to ensure our trials are safe and our data are of the highest quality. Staff need to understand the importance of confidentiality, because we are dealing with medical records.
