My client is a small Group of companies specialising in the wholesale and retail of a range of domestic products. Due to a resignation, the need has arisen to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to assist the business on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the MD you will be responsible for an Accounts Clerk and all aspects of accounting and reporting for one main trading business and two additional, small group businesses. Dealing with a blue chip client base, your duties will be varied and will include:-

  • Production of monthly management accounts comprising P&L, balance sheet, variance analysis and KPI reporting
  • Monthly revenue and P&L forecasting, through to year end
  • Weekly flash P&L
  • Monthly cashflow forecasting
  • Management of the invoice discounting relationship
  • Dealing with the payroll bureau
  • Processing of weekly, supplier payment runs
  • Foreign currency
  • Quarterly VAT
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting
  • Confidently assist the MD in developing the companies growth strategies

The successful candidate will be an experienced finance professional with experience in all the above areas as well as having proven experience in the support and development of junior staff. You will be an experienced, commercially minded, qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with a good amount of experience within an SME environment. Your systems skills will be strong and you will be capable of responding quickly and accurately to a fast moving business and entrepreneurial MD.
