Compliance Manager

A leading independent wealth management based in Newcastle are seeking a Compliance Manager. The purpose of this post is to ensure that the firm adopts a risk based approach to compliance monitoring and that business decisions and priorities and aligned with the TCF principles. The position reports directly to the Compliance Director.

The salary for this role is up to £60,000 for exceptional candidates and bearing in mind this role reports directly to the Compliance Director, the remit is large and in the role you will;

    Ensure business decisions and priorities and aligned with the TCF principles.Ensure that the firm has the right controls in place and that these are being used.Keep up-to-date with regulatory developments.Keep up-to-date with relevant legislative and regulatory developments Produce an annual compliance report for senior management in conjunction with the Compliance Director and Compliance Department.Manage the firm’s relationship with FCA in line with FCA Principle 11– A firm must deal with its regulators in an open and cooperative way, and must disclose to the FCA appropriately anything relating to the firm of which the FCA would reasonably expect notice.Ensure that the firm can respond in a timely basis to requests for information from the FCA.Make all appropriate notifications to FCA (for example, submission of the firms Retail Mediation Activities Return, relevant Notifiable changes and any other information relating to the firm of which the FCA would reasonably expect notice) in conjunction with the Compliance Director and Compliance Department.Conduct appropriate product and provider due diligence and panel maintenance of a regular and ongoing basis.Provide input and assessment on the firm’s Investment Committee.Produce a regular Money Laundering Report for senior management.Ensure adherence to the Money Laundering requirements is monitored through routine file checks.Ensure all staff (including new staff) are aware of the firm’s money laundering procedures.Ensure all staff receive appropriate and relevant training on a periodic basis as required. (At least every 2 years)Ensure all appropriate records are kept (e.g. details of client identification, training, transactions etc.).Ensure the firm’s Money Laundering procedures are kept up to date.
You will be comfortable that people in such capacity will be approved persons and all have received FCA approval. There is a degree of Compliance monitoring which will practically see you keeping up to date KPI information reporting any adverse trends, and where necessary look to change the behaviours in the teams. Further responsibilities include T&C, systems and controls. Full role specification is provided on request.

This post is a senior role, and there is an established team within compliance who will look to the new post holder for guidance and reassurance as such, the successful candidate will not only have in depth knowledge of all aspects of compliance and FCA regulations, but also experiencing of coaching and supervising others.

You will note the salary range is broad and this is because the company are looking for candidates at all levels with experience of wealth management compliance.
