Java J2EE Developer

Wood Group UK has an opportunity for additional Java J2EE developer to join our busy, friendly team, based at our offices in Chester.Our Chester team is world renowned for software and engineering consultancy in the international oil & gas sector and has an increasing number of contracts with major global operators. Main duties/ key responsibilities of the role are:-

·Design and development of new functionality following company processes and architectural

·Working with the in-house test team to ensure the developed system meets business requirement

·Deploying the company’s software products onto clients system

·Ongoing support & maintenance of software products implemented for clients

·Working as part of an agile software development team, playing a fully active role as a member of the team

·Performing peer reviews of code written by colleagues, checking against coding standards and recommending improvements were appropriate and required

·Participating in sprint planning, estimation and retrospective meetings

·Assisting the project delivery team by providing technical deliverables that are required as part of projects to be delivered to customers and answering technical questions arising in the course of projects that are being delivered to customers

·You should have experience of continuous development and enhancement of software products based
on the technologies listed below.

The essential skills and experience are:-

·Degree level qualification in computer science or related field

·Minimum two years’ experience of design and development of Java web applications in a commercialorganisation following agile principles

·Spring Core, MVC, Hibernate/Spring JPA/Data, REST

·JavaScript, JQuery and Client-side frameworks (AngularJS, Jasmine & Karma)




·Maven, Eclipse

·Experience of using collaborative tools including version control and issue tracking (e.g. GIT and JIRA)

·Prior experience of developing software for the upstream oil & gas sector for a relevant discipline such as petroleum engineering, production data reporting or well integrity

The desirable skills and experience are:-

·BDD with Cucumber, Selenium



·LSQ NoSQL Databases, MongoDB

·Spring Integration, Enterprise Integration Patterns

·SOAP Web services - XML&JSON

The salary for this role is paying up to 45K according to skills and experience. In addition the company offers a generous pension scheme, 25 days holiday, healthcare cover and life assurance as part of a flex benefits scheme available to all employees.
