Your new role
As an Assistant Research Accountant you will sit in a team of 11 reporting into the Research Accountant. You will be responsible for the financial administration for a portfolio of research awards and grants, and will provide financial advice and management information to academics, to support them with the management and control of the award/grant. You will also be responsible for the production of all management information, data, and analysis to support the budgeting, planning, and forecasting process in relation to the grants and awards within your portfolio.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role you must have a desire or have already started studying towards an recognised accountancy qualification, along with this you will have previous experience working within a technical accountancy role of at least 1 year, and have a great facility for numbers and picking out detail from contracts. Excellent communication skills will be essential for this role, as you will be working closely with the planning and forecasting team, academic staff, research enterprises and external budget holders. Within this role you will be given a 6 month training period, then thereafter you will need to be autonomous as you will be responsible for your own portfolio of grants/awards.
