An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Underwriter to join the Group Protection Scheme Underwriting team within Corporate & Business Solutions, UK&I Life based in Eastleigh.

The department is responsible for underwriting and issuing Group Protection illustrations to intermediaries, as well as enrolling schemes that are placed on risk, and consists of two broker teams and one Senior Manager.

This role will report to a Scheme Underwriting Team Manager, Group Protection, Eastleigh.

About The Role

Salary: starting at circa £18,500.

The main purpose of the role is to apply the agreed Company underwriting philosophy within the limits set by the Group Protection Actuary, to deliver a timely, profitable and high quality underwriting service.

Individuals will move through career progression steps (and authority levels) from Trainee level working within closely defined guidelines to a fully experienced Underwriter who is able to handle more non-routine cases personally.

The key responsibilities of the role holder are:

To underwrite, sign off and issue quotes and rate reviewsTo confirm risk on new schemes, enrolling them as required and renew existing businessTo produce sound underwriting decisions working within Underwriting philosophy and best practice guidelines with guidance where necessaryTo assist in the training and support of junior team membersAchievement of individual targetsDevelop in line with authority level stepsCommitment to meeting internal and external customers' needs and to treat them fairlyTo form and maintain relationships with members of their assigned IntermediariesTo deliver performance against KPIs for their assigned IntermediariesEssential Knowledge and Skills

The successful candidate will possess the following:
