Software Engineer - GUI


£40-50k + Benefits such as 25 days holiday, Pension, Death in Service, PHI, Bonus - PRP (not guaranteed but has historically paid between 5-18%).

Hours of work are 8.30 – 5pm (flexitime trial in operation)

Reporting to the Software Development Manager, we are looking for a GUI Software Engineer to design and develop software which will integrate with our client’s hardware and firmware modules to deliver efficient and user friendly interfaces for customers worldwide.

This company has been at the forefront of subsea innovation for the last 40 years, an independent manufacturing business, employing almost 300 employees worldwide. The company offers interesting engineering challenges that require complex solutions and as such staff turnover is low due to the nature of the work and the way employees are treated.

The role will be focussed on helping the company move away from forms based User Interface (UI's) and focus towards browser based UI's. The Software represented is high quality, industrial command and control software running on embedded platforms.

The Software Development team consist of 12 Software Engineers and there is occasional travel within the UK and offshore. Typically, this will involve two offshore trips of 1-2 weeks duration and four 1 week visits to a trials facility.

Multiple (approximately 2-3) assignments need to be managed at any one time however the amount will vary depending on the level of complexity.


•Degree in Computer Science or related subject or equivalent experience

•Maths A Level


•Proficient in C# .NET with Visual Studio 2013 (or later)

•Strong User Interface/Front End principles, standards, practices

•Demonstrable experience of Front End software or Web development with complex/technical applications


•Programming principles including OOP, TDD, SOLID

•HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, SignalR

•Typescript/Javascript and libraries including AngularJS, ReactJS

•Asynchronous request handling

•Ability to capture user/customer requirements specifications
