Technology Strategy Lead - Information Technology, IT Strategy, IT roadmap, policy development Permanent Croydon- £64,178 - £74,446 + excellent benefits Technology Strategy Lead - we are looking to recruit a Technology Strategy Lead to drive the strategy and support the delivery of a number of projects directly linked to the programmes (Borders, Immigration and Citizenship System, with specific focus on the EU Exit and Status Checking cross cutting initiatives) as well as contribute to the over-arching strategic direction for the Immigration Technology Portfolio KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Leading the development of a strategic roadmap(s) for Immigration services, gathering business requirements and priorities and guiding the business in developing strategic solutions to further their objectives. - Ensuring effective alignment of activity to support strategic initiatives across the wider Home Office Portfolios. - Chairing the Status Checking Working Group, ensuring appropriate engagement and representation across the organisation. - Leading the work to determine and develop the necessary business rules, liaising with operations and policy, including development of the relevant rules to support transition of existing services off legacy systems. This will include o Engagement with policy regarding the relevant legislative and policy considerations/constraints and ensuring a consistent, standard set of rules to determine all elements relating to each particular type of status. - Engagement with operational business - particularly teams already engaged in determining status - to identify where rules can be reused, where there may be gaps, how those rules can be standardised, and existing services maintained and enhanced. - Ensuring and facilitating appropriate oversight and sign off of rules by the Status Steering Group and application of standards, to enable rules to be consistently applied across all parts of the system. - Engaging with wider initiatives and representing Status Services at any necessary forum. - Oversight of PMO and secretariat support, specific to Status REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Essential Criteria: - Experience of delivering quality products in a fast-paced environment. - Experience in a number of different methodologies including hands on Agile experience in a complex environment. - Experience of balancing agility with a wider organisation that perhaps hasn't adopted the same principles. - Experience of using commercial frameworks and demonstrating value for money. - Maintain an awareness of developing technologies and their application. - Build constructive relationships with internal teams and external organisations to develop knowledge and understanding of technological, political or professional trends. Desirable Criteria: Desirable Criteria: - Proven track record in a multi-supplier environment of bringing organisations together to meet a shared objective. - Cross-government or organisational contacts that provide a breadth of understanding about the different approaches taken to complex IT provision across the wider industry - Proven track record in providing incremental services into the live environment that included all aspects of business change and service - Proven track record in balancing the needs of supporting a beta service, while still developing the product and thus balancing capacity between support and development progress - Experience of working in a software development and IT operations area and an understanding of the close working and continuous improvement culture needed to allow this approach to flourish.
