The post of shared Head Teacher, Stenton and Innerwick Primary Schools is to serve the school communities of both Stenton and Innerwick. The schools are both small rural schools situated in the East Lothian countryside, at a distance of 8 miles apart. Both schools are non-denominational and co-educational teaching pupils from P1 - P7. Innerwick Primary School has a nursery class recognised for its strong practice which is open mornings only. Stenton Primary School does not have a nursery class. The schools have active Parent Councils and both schools play a key role within their local communities. For example, Innerwick involves the whole school community through planned learning projects such as 'Up Helly Aa'. Stenton has strong links with partners in the community building opportunities into the curriculum to work with the rotary club, bowling club and local farms. The local secondary school is Dunbar Grammar School.

Job Details

The role of the Head Teacher is, within the resources available, to conduct the affairs of both Schools to the benefit of the pupils and the communities they serve, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by East Lothian Council under the overall direction of the Depute Chief Executive, Resources and People Services.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Full GTCS Registration is required.
Proven management experience and expertise.
