Role: Marketing Advisor

Location: Bristol

Contract: Fixed term contract for 9 months, 0.5 FTE

Salary: £35,000

YTKO supports SME businesses through the whole cycle of growth, from pre-start and start-up to sustainability and growth, via a blend of branded services. We have recently secured funding to deliver start-up and growth support to individuals and SME businesses in the West of England area as part of a consortium of partner organisations, and thanks to the European Regional Development Fund. Start-up support is delivered under our Outset brand and growth support is offered under our GetSet for Growth brand.

The Marketing Advisor will work across both the Outset and GetSet programmes, supporting a team of advisor's to help individuals and business owners gain the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to start and grow a business. We work with people from a range of different backgrounds, at all different stages and often with different needs.


To select, assess, engage and build and maintain, trusted business relationships with clients, so that they accept your expertise and understanding of pragmatic business planning, market research, marketing and business development strategies, models, and sales and marketing tactics.

To deliver our workshops/training to SMEs enrolled into the GetSet and OutSet services.

To provide 1:1 support to ensure our clients’ marketing strategies are robust and well articulated, including preparing and advising on business plans, and funding pitches.

In partnership with the Business Finance Advisors, to maintain close advisory contact with clients to check progress on growth plans and their results, and maintain good relationships.

To capture and accurately record all client data and evidence of our support and impact, using our CRM system and paper records as required.

To deliver high service levels and professionalism at all times to clients, funders and partners.
To manage and balance client demands and project resources, using effective caseload management to ensure clients progress to agreed goals in an effective, business-like, and timely manner.

To support the Project Director with effective and timely reporting, and with any other duties as required.

Please note the Marketing Advisor may also be called upon to complete a range of other duties for YTKO Group, as reasonably required.



  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of marketing strategy, business models, digital marketing, value propositions, market research and competitor analysis
  • Understanding of SME businesses with the ability to speak confidently about the key areas of business planning, marketing and sales
  • An established network of contacts and partners within the SME community in the West of England region
  • Experience of organising and delivering successful events
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an experienced presenter
  • A blend of private and public sector experience


  • An appropriate marketing or communications qualification
  • Experience of working in an European Regional Development Fund project
  • Experience of working with underrepresented groups.
  • Entrepreneurial experience or knowledge of running your own business
  • Excellent written and spoken English and highly IT literate, with Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
