Systems Administrator - Big Data Are you looking for your next challenge? Do you want to take ownership of system availability and operations, ensuring continual availability? Do you want to work with the latest technologies (Hadoop 2.7, HDFS) and advanced machine learning? If you are DevOps / Continual Operations focussed, with a good knowledge of Python and Linux call me today. Working in partnership with a not for profit start up you will be involved in system administration and improvement of a large scale distributed system. Utilising your DevOps / System Administration skills you will help keep this critical system running whilst helping automate processes and generally improve performance. THE SALARY/RATE/PACKAGE/BENEFITS Systems Administrator - Big Data - £50k - £65k DOE - 28 days holiday + Bank Holiday's - Start ASAP THE CANDIDATE Systems Administrator - Big Data - The key focus for the position is absolute System availability through operational management - You will understand the operational needs of a high-tech company and what it takes to keep large distributed systems operational - You will be working in a Linux Environment (CentOS) and should have excellent knowledge of Python as a programming language. - You will be experienced in using Bash for scripting - Good knowledge of testing large distributed systems - Experience fault finding and providing rolling patches The company also utilise the following systems / software that it would be beneficial to have experience of supporting : - HDFS / Hadoop 2.7 - NoSQL DB ( Accumulo, HBase, Cassandra) - Traditional databases (PostgreSQL, SQLServer, Oracle) - Code / Version control (Git) - Knowledge of network security, due to the sensitive nature of the work cyber security is an important part of their system. THE ROLE Systems Administrator - Big Data The position will be a hands-on operational DevOps vacancy providing systems administration for a large distributed system they have developed.
