An opportunity has arisen for a hugely important, influential role for a major public sector infrastructure client, based in their head office in central Birmingham. The Director Programme Hub is responsible for Portfolio Office function of the Major Improvements programme for the organisation. The Major Improvements Programme has a budget of approx. £5 Billion over a five year rolling period and will be managing some of the largest and most visible infrastructure projects in England over the next few years. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be the person responsible for Portfolio management activity within the organisation. This means ensuring common reporting standards across programme as well as ensuring an effective assurance framework is in place to ensure robust programme governance. You will be responsible for developing and defining the Major Projects portfolio, identifying continuous improvement opportunities for the portfolio office and develop processes to ensure programme owners are responsible and accountable to deliver projects successfully. You will also be responsible as the lead performance reporting for the Major Projects programme, both internally and to key external stakeholders (Governmental, Regulatory) to support effective stakeholder relationships. Successful candidate will have significant portfolio management experience in a large CAPEX infrastructure environment, ideally in a regulated industry such as transport, highways, civils, energy/utilities. An understanding of governance frameworks, a proven record of embedding change and continuous improvement into a multi-stakeholder, multi-programme organisation, and a strong commercial understanding.
