An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a private bank, based in Central London on a permanent basis! The Financial Controller will ensure the efficient financial control of the Bank and compliance with all statutory and regulatory financial reports. Responsible for: - * All aspects of accounting for the Bank, including managing financial control, internal controls and checking suspense and prepaid accounts * Monitor and update accounting policies, procedures and controls * Preparation of budgets (including capital expenditure) and variance analysis and to provide exception reporting as required * Control of expenditure items * Sundry tax matters and advice and guidance as required * Ensuring adequacy of provisions in financial terms * Ensure that appropriate controls and checks are built into the reporting process to minimise the risk of reporting errors * Liaison with external auditors, tax advisor, Inland Revenue as required to maintain knowledge of all changes in regulatory / financial issues * Interview, select (subject to management approval) new staff , and train and induct them after recruitment or transfer * Manage and supervise staff in areas of attendance, behaviour, work ethics, confidentiality and trustworthiness * Manage the staff appraisal programme * Handle the resignation/dismissal process of Finance Department staff in close co-ordination with the HR Manager * Provide the Chief Risk Officer required information relating to the Finance Department Overseeing Preparation of: * Monthly Management Accounts * Year - End Statutory Accounts * Corporation Tax Computations * VAT Returns * Regulatory reporting (Bank of England) * Reconciliation of Bank's accounts Competencies: * Preferably Qualified accountant * Comprehensive knowledge and sufficient experience within the banking industry. * Good general knowledge of applicable rules and regulations related to the activities of the Bank including but not limited to regulatory, tax, personnel issues. * Knowing banking core system preferable T24 & Bank Master
