Job Description

I am recruiting for an experienced Lead Engineer on behalf of an award-winning Digital Agency based in Central London. They are an accredited Sitecore Solution Partner and Microsoft Gold Partner, with a reputation for building high-quality solutions for a varied customer base.

Rather than the stereotypical 'high volume, low quality' approach taken by the majority of Digital Agencies, this organisation strive to adopt a longer-term and more consultative approach. They focus on large-scale Digital transformations where they work in partnership with the end user, helping them transform the way they engage with their customer by adapting to the changing Digital landscape.

You will be joinging as a Lead Engineer, working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to help shape the delivery of these Digital solutions. Your role will be hybrid, focusing on hands on development alongside wider responsibilities including strategy, architecture and team leadership. Whilst not a pure management role, you will be expected to provide a high-level of technical leadership and guidance to the wider team.

From a technology standpoint, you will be given the opportunity to work with state of the art technologies such as .NET Core, Azure, Sitecore and a variety of front end technologies such as Angular and React. You will be working in an Agile development environment, using moder principles and processes including Test Driven Development, Behaviour Driven Development, Continuous Integration and DevOps. You will also be expected to drive the use of coding standards and development best practice, as this organisation adopts a 'quality-first' approach to its development.

In terms of specific technical requirements, this role encompasses such a wide array of responsibilities that they are expecting an equally wide knowledge base from prospective applicants. Knowledge and experience of the following would therefore be highly beneficial:

  • Microsoft technologies including ASP.NET (MVC, Web API), Entity Framework, WCF and C#. This organisation uses Visual Studio 2017 and TFS so an up to date skillset would be ideal.
  • Cloud technologies such as Azure and Amazon Web Services would also be ideal. This organisation's strategy is increasingly focused on cloud-based projects (IaaS, PaaS) and an understanding of cloud services and cloud security would be a great skill to bring to the table.
  • An understanding of front end/UI technologies such as AngularJS, ReactJS, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap and JQuery. This organisation are heavily focused on Web-based application development so an understanding of common Web trends and responsive design would be ideal.
  • Any experience with Sitecore CMS would be great, or exposure to other CMS including Umbraco or Kentico.

In return, you will be rewarded with a competitive base salary (£55,000-£60,000) as well as a flexible benefits package, 25 days holiday and the opportunity to obtain Microsoft/Sitecore certifications. Moreover, you will be joining a progressive company that offers excellent opportunities to develop from both a career and personal perspective... not too bad eh?
