Finegreen are recruiting on behalf of a leading independent healthcare provider. This is an excellent opportunity for a Practice Educator to join their Theatres Department within a private hospital based in London.

This role is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week and you will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. The salary is competitive up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Please note, the role is 90% clinical and 10% administrative, so it’s essential you will be already established in education and practice development working with students and junior/senior theatre staff within the theatre department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To be responsible for developing and co-ordinating education initiatives within the theatre department. To lead and take continuing responsibility for the in-service development of all clinical staff working within the theatre department. To provide leadership and motivation to establish exceptional clinical practices;
  • To develop and maintain an effective educational environment through coaching and developing all levels of staff within the perioperative environment. To support all staff to deliver high quality effective care for patients thus improving the patients’ experience and care;
  • To be responsible for the development of programmes of education and training, whilst demonstrating awareness of cultural diversity in the workplace and the need to adapt training accordingly;
  • Act as an expert practitioner, resource and role model to encourage evidence based practice. To provide support and supervision to all staff, including those on professional development courses;
  • The post holder will contribute to ensuring a conducive work environment and he/she will be a change agent with a strong professional and clinical focus;
  • The key aim of the role is working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, in order to develop and maintain high quality patient care and service delivery.

The Practice Educator will be working closely with the Clinical Lead/Co-ordinator and Theatre Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the training, coaching and support of all staff within the clinical area and have experience working in multi-specialities within theatre. You will identify training needs for the clinical area and create a climate of research awareness.

The successful candidate:
  • Must be a Registered Nurse/ODP with valid NMC/HCPC registration;
  • Mentorship qualification or recognised teaching course;
  • Extensive knowledge of training and development;
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development;
  • ALS Provider;
  • Minimum 2 years post registration relevant experience with the operating department;
  • Ability to provide education, training, advice and support for staff at all levels within the operative services.
