Its been claimed that the average job-seeker spends around 2 minutes reading an advert before either deciding to apply for the role or scrolling to the next one. This is especially true in today's mobile-first society where candidates increasingly access content on the go, whether its during a quick cigarette break or on the train home from another unsinpiring day in the office. So with that in mind, I wanted to craft an advert that gets straight to the point and hopefully gets the job done within that 2 minute boundary... The Company They are a Global Travel Managenent Organisation, established for over 30 years and going through an enormous Agile transformation to improve the way they deliver Software to their customers. They have won numerous awards for adopting innovative approaches to technology and this position will form a highly strategic part of that continued technological journey. They offer a collaborative and innovative company culture where ideas are actually encouraged (rather than ignored) and you will be supported by your colleagues and senior management. Fundamentally, they are an organisation who actually care about their employees and this is highlighted by their excellent retention rate and consistent year-on-year growth. In summary... not a bad place to work at all. The Role The role is varied and essentially encompasses a range of responsibility. The role is hybrid by nature and the split is 70% hands on development and 30% architecture, with a focus on high-level design and the need to be able to transfer blueprints into a usable plan. This role would suit somebody looking to ultimately progress into the role of Enterprise Architect and the focus will be helping the organisation transition to a fully service-exposed architecture. They are looking into the way they delivery their services and are moving away from a monolith-based idea towards Microservices, with a specific focus on the Cloud. Moreover, they currently have a number of key systems that they use to interface with customers and this role will involve a huge greenfield re-platform of those systems - you will be involved in the full Software Development Lifecycle and will be expected to provide technical leadership and technical direction as and when required. Ultimately, this role will present an enormous challenge to whoever ultimately takes it and offers a great opportunity to really put your stamp on the technological direction of the organisation. You So with that in mind, they are looking for the following from you: - Excellent understanding of the Microsoft .NET framework with expert knowledge of C# and ASP.NET. - Experience with RESTful Web Services and Web API. - Strong understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and how it differs from Web Services. - Understanding of core Object-Oriented Principles and why they are beneficial. - Experience of database technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL and MongoDB. - Experience building Cloud-based applications using either Azure or Amazon Web Services. - Proven track record of technical leadership and a good understanding of high-level technical documentation and core architectural principles. - Understanding of common design patterns. But perhaps the most important requirement is excellent communication skills as this business is all about communication, as is this role. You will be constantly communicating with both senior stakeholders (up to c-level) as well as the Software Engineering team and QA, so excellent communciation skills (both written and oral) are an absolute must. Next Steps So if you have managed to read through this ad in less than 2 minutes and think it looks like a good opportunity then give me a shout! Call me on either *********** or ************* if you want to find out more. Alternatively, send me an email to ************************** or drop me a message on LinkedIn (I am pretty easy to find!). Anything discussed will be kept completely confidential.
