Purpose & Context:

The Financial Reporting Production team includes c75 individuals across all relevant funds primarily consisting of qualified accountants. There are c80 roles offshore in Colombo supporting the production teams. Onshore roles are required to interact with this team on a regular basis. The role leads multiple UK Life funds/entities which include a range of products and business types across differing systems and processes. This requires autonomous working to lead the production of the necessary core outputs applicable to the fund within an appropriate timeframe and control environment.

  • Leads multiple teams (on and offshore) to provide a variety of Financial Reporting outputs for multiple UK Life entities.
  • Uses sound business knowledge alongside financial accounting expertise to manage the production of appropriate reporting deliverables for internal and external stakeholders across IFRS, PRA, and Economic metrics.
  • Acts as a key interface between UK Life and relevant internal and external outsource providers ensuring appropriate service in line with agreed SLA framework and providing sufficient supporting analysis and actions where this is not the case.
  • Manages risks and issues applicable to funds/entities and communicates accordingly to relevant stakeholders. Manages and motivates team members to develop new solutions and monitor implementation through to resolution.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant internal reporting, risk and controllership requirements (including overall compliance with internal Sox control framework, internal and external audit).
  • May manage investigations within reporting and act as a key resource on larger change projects. Provides SME input across Financial Reporting and wider Finance senior management/stakeholders on issues applicable to funds/entities.
  • Required to influence wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Role Deliverables:

  • Stakeholder deliverables meet their requirements as specified from a qualitative and timely perspective.
  • Risks and issues across funds appropriate communicated and factored into forecasting process.
  • Finance and wider strategic change captures necessary requirement for accounting production processes/outputs.
  • Risks and control framework sufficiently robust to ensure compliance with necessary standards. Any shortfalls are identified, communicated and appropriately mitigated as necessary.
  • Outsource provider performance is measured to sufficiently highlight where service falls short of Aviva standard. Solutions developed jointly with providers where this is the case.
  • Lead and manage External and Internal audit assignments as required.
  • Works at all times within industry and professional standards, complying with CPD requirements.

Manages a team of Grade D and C qualified / part qualified accountants.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • A sound understanding of the business.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with other areas of Finance/business.
  • Sound knowledge of Finance processes and relevant architecture.
  • Experience with IFRS and PRA reporting.
  • Experience of leading a team including leading through a period of sizeable change.
  • Excellent working knowledge of professional standards and codes.
  • Experience with Financial Services and/or Life Industry. (Desirable)
  • Computer literacy and a good understanding of systems and software. (Desirable)

  • Essential - Qualified Accountant (with appropriate PQE) or suitably qualified by experience.
  • Desirable – Relevant academic qualifications (e.g. University degree).
Additional Information:

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 dependent on skills & experience + benefits.
