PKAVS Minority Communities Hub (MCH) has been supporting ethnic minority communities in Perth & Kinross since 2010. Perth & Kinross has the 4th largest ethnic minority population in Scotland. Minority Communities Hub has developed a reputation for leading the way in supporting minority communities.


Role
PKAVS Minority Communities Hub has an exciting opportunity for an Eastern European Information and Advice Development Officer to join the team. You will be required to provide multi-lingual and culturally sensitive information and advice to migrant workers and minority ethnic communities in Perth and Kinross to enable increased access to mainstream statutory and voluntary services. You will raise awareness of the issues facing Ethnic Minority communities with our locality action partnership, particularly in relation to accessing services. You must have a flexible approach, working in collaboration with team members, PKAVS Shared Services team, volunteers and external agencies accessing our services. Experience of working with and being able to engage directly with Ethnic Minority Groups and their families is an essential element of this role.

This role requires a high degree of verbal and written interaction with our clients, especially our Polish clients, helping them access our services or directing them to other appropriate services and therefore it is essential that you have fluent English and Polish or at least one of Eastern European languages skills to effectively fulfil this role.

As well as fluent English and Easter European spoken and written language skills you will also be required to have Diploma/Degree in Community Education or Community Development and/or experience and knowledge of topics relevant to migrant workers and minority ethnic communities and an understanding of cultural diversity.


Key Objectives
  • Promoting awareness of service to people from Eastern European communities in Perth and Kinross area.
  • Raising awareness of service offered by MCH Hub through representation of the service at various locality partnership meetings and other network meetings.
  • Working in partnership with local authority and external agencies to ensure future sustainability of the service.
  • Providing feedback to Performance & Information Officer and Service Manager as well as key Partners on any barriers Eastern European Communities may encounter in accessing services to help Partners better meet the needs of Ethnic Minority Communities.
  • Sourcing and applying for service delivery funding.
  • Establishing and maintaining links with people from ethnic minority communities in Perth and Kinross.
  • Identifying and addressing key barriers preventing people from ethnic minority communities from accessing mainstream services.
  • Establishing and promoting Minority Community Hub as a one stop shop for all ethnic minority communities in Perth and Kinross.


Salary: £22,169 - £24,424 per annum pro rata.

Contract Type: Fixed term until 31st March 2019
