Information about the school

In September 2015 The Kent Health Needs Education Service (KHNES) was launched. The service operates from 1 residential unit (Oakfields) and from 6 hubs. Each hub has specialist staff including a mental health nurse. Advice and guidance is provided to services on working with pupils with mental health and physical health needs. Pupils are supported with their education in one of the specialist hubs either full or part time. These are short term placements, typically no more than 8 - 10 weeks and are provided as part of a supported reintegration programme. Access to the E-learning platform and tuition in the service setting is also possible.

The purpose and ethos of the Kent Health Needs Education Service can be summarised in one very simple statement:

Ensuring continuity of education, through inclusion and support.

Kent Health Needs Education Service is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and take part in safer recruitment training. All posts within KHNES are subject to an enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and check against the ISA Barred List for children.

Our School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
