We am looking for a Senior Front End Developer to join my clients technical team. You will have an aptitude for development and be proficient in a wide range of interactive technologies. You will have a good knowledge of new and emerging tech and trends and should be passionate about the work you do. Although technical skills are of primary importance, the role also requires a good knowledge of design and UX. You should have a broad range of design and technical knowledge with proven experience of using their skills and expertise to define and deliver digital solutions. You should be conversant in design and technical terminology and enthusiastic about all things digital. The ideal developer will have: - Strong JavaScript skills on both the client and the server. Experience with at least one modern JS framework such as Vue / Angular / React is required. We favour React for new projects. Candidates must be familiar writing modern ES6 syntax and be comfortable writing modular re-usable components. - Experience writing styles using a CSS pre-processor. We use SASS, utilizing variables, mixins, functions, etc. Deep understanding of how to create responsive web designs that work across a variety of browsers and devices. - A good grasp of UX and Design; having a decent level of understanding about common user experience practices and pitfalls for the web and apps. Communication with the relevant internal teams to discuss UX and Design materials such as sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, etc. will be crucial. - The ability to approach a wide variety of different interactive projects, each with their own unique client requirements. Candidates will need to be confident working across multiple projects simultaneously, and must have excellent time-management skills. - A deep understanding of modern web standards and techniques, along with a passion for new and emerging trends such as Progressive Web Apps, server-side rendering, CSS-in-JS libraries, JavaScript type systems, etc. - The ability to analyse technical specifications required for the front-end portion of a project. For example, determining whether an API schema provided by the back-end team will satisfy the front-end requirements. It is desirable if you have: - An agency or digital marketing background. - Previously worked following an agile methodology, and can confidently estimate and plan delivery of interactive projects. - At least a working knowledge of how to work with the tools our designers use such as Sketch and Photoshop - An interest in and knowledge of how to measure and optimize web performance. - A track record of developing apps to high standards of accessibility. - An interest in optimizing our delivery process using CI servers, automated unit testing, automated cross-browser testing, etc. - A working knowledge of back-end technologies such as .NET, SQL Server, and IIS. - A working knowledge or interest in building mobile apps; including Cordova and React Native apps. - Experience coaching more junior developers, and able to help them effectively grow as developers. Client facing competence - Candidate needs to be as confident in front of an external client as they would be in front of an internal team - They need to be able to explain technical concepts both in simple terms and in deeply technical terms depending on their audience - They need to be aware of the client's communication requirements and able to respond appropriately and in a timely fashion - They need to be able to demonstrate their work as part of a Client Services-led presentation The person - Detail orientated. - Can think clearly under pressure. - Able to see the bigger picture and apply the needs of the agency and client to the execution of the crucial role. - Positive can-do attitude. - Always approachable by team and other staff. - Calm and even-tempered. - Patient communicator. It would be an advantage to have links to any accounts on GitHub, BitBucket, etc and be able to talk through your code using a computer during the interview.
