Position Description: Hardware Engineer Electronics. To specify electronic vehicle component hardware requirements and to work with suppliers and JLR engineers to ensure that the design is delivered robustly for the FDJ gateway. Advanced role: As part of the GRADE team, to review electronic vehicle components and detect error states and work with component teams and suppliers to fix these error states, such as non-compliances to JLR standards. KEY SKILLS REQUIRED: Essential basic role (Grade C /D): Must have a degree in electronics or alternative technical qualifications. Essential advanced role (Grade D): As above, plus: Must have strong, applied skills in automotive electronic hardware design. Essential basic role (Grade C /D): Must have experience of microcontroller based electronics projects (especially automotive). A knowledge of automotive vehicle networks. Essential advanced role (Grade D): Must have at least 3 years' experience in developing and delivering automotive electronic product or other equivalent experience. Essential basic role (Grade C /D): A knowledge of automotive vehicle networks. Experience of developing high volume products from concept to production. Essential advanced role (Grade D): Must be able to examine a proposed circuit design and layout, and identify potential issues which may affect reliability, robustness and EMC. Experience Required: Basic role: Specify requirements for vehicle component hardware; Validate hardware (Electrical and environmental testing); Support Hardware reviews and resolve issues from reviews; Support EMC testing; Component in vehicle packaging and electrical installation; Troubleshoot component and system issues. Essential advanced role (Grade D): Must have excellent people skills; Must have high levels of integrity and self-discipline, to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner; He/she will have a good understanding of most of the following: Power supply topologies, interfacing to microcontrollers, power switching, analogue design, digital circuits, EMC, stability analysis, vehicle network hardware, RF design, vehicle traction electronics, IGBTs. Engage prior to supplier nomination with expert skills to select the best solution; Intensively review electronic circuits, PCB layouts, packaging and system around the component; Provide technical leadership to troubleshoot component and system issues.
