Nursery class - ASD support

A large and high-achieving Primary school in Cardiff North are looking for a reliable and committed Teaching Assistant to work 5 mornings per week, providing 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD within the nursery class. This role is to commence after half term and will be long term and temporary until at least July 2018 and will be reviewed for potential continuation in September 2018.

You will work to support the child in all aspects to achieve learning and developmental outcomes as outlined in the child's individual education plan. Part of your role will also be to work closely with the class teacher, to monitor and give feedback in relation to the child's progress, offering suggestions where relevant. You will build an excellent relationship and bond with the pupil, ensuring that they feel happy, confident and secure in learning at all times. You will also support the pupil in partaking in group and wider class activities and general development of social interaction skills.

You will be genuinely passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs. It is imperative that you will be committed to the pupil and your role in supporting the child's development in all aspects. This role requires someone who is dedicated to making a difference and enhancing teaching and learning.

The right person for this role will have proven experience of working with children with additional needs/Autism, and will have the ability to effectively support the child in all aspects, including the effective management of their behaviour. Ideally you will be able to draw upon your previous experience to contribute ideas to the planning of the child's I.E.P, and implementation of strategies (both learning and behavioural) to support them in the utmost.
