Teaching Assistant job - full time

A friendly mainstream Primary School in Cardiff are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant to provide general classroom support across the key stages. This role is to start as soon as possible and is working 5 days per week, on a long term basis.

You will be working on a timetabled basis providing general classroom support throughout the school, from Reception to Year 5. This will involve supporting the delivery of learning activities with groups of children including supporting numeracy and literacy. As you will be working across the school, experience of working with children aged between 4 and 11 years in a similar environment will be essential, as well as the ability to adapt support methods accordingly to ensure that they are age and ability appropriate.

You will work to ensure that the children remain focused and on-task to complete tasks based around learning goals. You will develop a good rapport and an effective relationship with the pupils, and then use your understanding of their ability and learning styles to ensure that the work is both challenging and achievable for them. It will be imperative that you create a positive environment for the pupils, using enthusiasm to keep them engaged and stimulated.

The right person for this role will have strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with pupils quickly. You will need to be able to use your rapport with the pupils to effectively manage their behaviour. You will be calm and supportive in nature, but will have the ability to set and maintain behaviour boundaries as well as to provide the children with a positive and enthusiastic approach to learning. Someone with strong personality, and a proactive attitude would fit in well with the team at the school. You will also need to be very organised, as you will need to easily be able to adapt to the different classes/age ranges and abilities of the children. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to develop/diversify their current experience.

In order to apply for this role you must have proven experience of supporting children in a similar environment. Should you wish to apply for this position, please send your up-to-date CV today. Please ensure that your CV details all relevant skills and experience as outlined above. Please note that our ability to consider you for this role is subject to our ability to obtain satisfactory references and documentation.
