Teacher Assistant

  • 65-85 daily rate
  • Excellent on-site facilities
  • Lewisham

I am currently working with a 'Good' SEN school that caters for primary and secondary aged students with ASD based in the London Borough of Lewisham who are looking for a primary ASD Teacher Assistant to start after October half term on a full time basis. Primary ASD Teacher Assistants work with 1 or 2 pupils on a daily basis providing individual assistance to ensure access to learning across the curriculum. As an SEN Teacher Assistant you will complete 1:1 support for students including assisting in personal care tasks (feeding, changing, toileting etc.). This primary ASD Teacher Assistant role would suit both experienced TAs from SEN schools or mainstream primary schools - experience supporting learners would be advantageous though not a necessity. The school has an amazing training scheme and support structure in place and as a result welcomes applications from recent graduates who have a passion for special needs or personal experience in this area and are looking for a role to kick-start their career in education. The fortunate applicant will benefit from a huge amount of coaching and training that leads to progression within the provision.

We are looking for a primary ASD Teacher Assistant who:

  • Has had classroom based experience either in mainstream or SEN
  • Has experience supporting ASD students
  • Has the ability to work as part of a team, is keen to learn and work on own initiatives
  • Experience using PECs and Makaton (preferable but not essential)
  • Team Teach (A huge bonus but not essential)

This school supports children aged 3-19 and support them to make continued progress in their learning and acquisition of life skills. They work with a number of therapists (SALT, OT and Psychologist) so that pupils can be successful and they can learn to manage the challenges their autism may bring. They also offer advice and support to schools and families across Lewis ham, including working with children and staff to disseminate good ASD practice. They know that every child at is unique and are committed to providing an individual learning plan that meets their specific needs.

If this sounds like the ideal role for you then send through your CV to be considered!
