Charlton Park Academy is an 'Outstanding' special school for students with complex, low incidence special educational needs. They are a well-established and very experienced local provider of quality specialised education provision and cater for young people with complex conditions. The school itself is located in a flourishing area of Greenwich and the nearest station (Charlton Park) is within a short walking distance. The school are looking to offer the right candidate the opportunity to trial up until Christmas with the view of being considered for a permanent position starting in January 2018.
Your new job
In your new teaching job you will be delivering high quality lesson content, which will keep students engaged and motivated to create the best possible learning environment. You will be responsible for teaching KS4 to 8 students with complex learning needs. Each student has an EHC Plan which includes mixed complex needs, visual impairment, physical disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour. Each student is working on varying levels of academic development.
These students are supported by multiple Learning Support Assistants and some students are also supported by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist who have implemented guidelines that need to be incorporated into the lesson plans. The curriculum is kept in line with the current academic level of each student, and they have individual structured timetables for the full academic year.

What you'll need to succeed
* PGCE/ QTS in education (or equivalent)
* Experience delivering KS4 students and/or the national curriculum within an SEND setting
* To be a motivated and passionate teacher and strong class management skills
* Previous experience working with students who have complex needs
* Ability to work as a team and efficiently settle in to an SEND department
