Media and PR Manager (Global Campaigns) fixed term contract until Dec 2018
Here at Amnesty International UK (AIUK), our aim is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied and we want the world to join us in standing up for humanity and human rights. Which is why we need you – to shape the way we achieve full and appropriate media coverage that can deliver human rights change.
About the role
This is a unique opportunity and a great time to join AIUK's busy Media and PR team. AIUK has ambitious campaigning and growth targets up to 2020. And you will play a vital role in delivering those targets. This will be achieved by developing media strategies, conducting media interviews and producing the relevant materials such as press releases, fast reactive quotes, and opinion pieces.
You will also be responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating rolling 12-month media and PR strategies for Amnesty’s global campaigns, which are currently centred around the issues of refugees and human rights defenders. These strategies will be designed to deliver real human rights change and help increase the number of Amnesty supporters in the UK.
In addition, your role will also look after UK media work for a specific region of the world, liaising closely with our international office.
Passionate about our aims, you’ll be a media and PR specialist with extensive experience of working on campaigns. You’ll have excellent project management skills, great contacts within the UK media and a personable nature. Keen to use your creative skills, you’ll be driven to improve the nation’s view on human rights.
An interest in new media is essential in addition to the availability to work “on call” hours shared with the rest of the team.
Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people standing up for human rights. Our network extends to more than seven million members, supporters and activists in more than 150 countries around the world. Each one of us is outraged by human rights abuses but inspired by hope for a better world – and together we work to improve human rights through campaigning and international solidarity.
