Title: NPI Engineer Location: Redditch Salary: £20'000 - £30'000 + Shifts: Days (39 hours over 4-day week) FUNCTION: - Ensure all relevant APQP/NPI documents are completed and controlled during the project stage of development and introduction - To generate PPAP / FAIR Submission documentation. - Ensure that document/drawing changes are introduced into production in a manner that achieves "right first time" cost effective manufacture - Attend Contract review meetings, ensuring Customer specific requirements are understood and included at conception stage. - Engage with Customers / suppliers to ensure consistency of purpose and to establish key process / product characteristics, allowing for robust quality planning. - In conjunction with the Technical department, ensure all project milestones are achieved and communicated. - To work to set procedures our QMS / EMS systems. - Introduction of new measuring equipment, calibration and measurement of existing equipment - To carry out General Quality Engineering duties as required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Report to the Quality Manager on all aspects of Quality Assurance - Develop, produce and update Manufacturing Instructions (Layouts) and ensure good product quality and repeatability in production. Create, update and maintain Quality Plans and PPAP documentation (using information from various sources e.g. Quality Concerns, Customer Rejects, suppliers, NPI etc.) - In conjunction with the Technical Department ensure that all stages of the NPI/APQP process are completed and communicated in accordance with the NPI plan. - Manage the Calibration system, ensuring all relevant gauges and equipment are in calibration and stored effectively. - Attend / Organise Contract Reviews as required. - Manage MSA programme for all existing and new measurement systems within the business - Carry out quality engineer duties as requested - Ensure product / process sign-off and manage hand-over from projects to current parts. - Deputise for Quality Manager when required KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: - Right First time - Project completion dates - External / internal CNQ - Achievement of set Objectives and Targets (CPD) KEY COMPETENCIES: - 1-2 years' relevant experience in a quality engineering role - Knowledge and experience in APQP / PPAP / FAIR - Good Time Management - Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness - Should have good understanding Geometrical dimensions & Tolerances. - Should have good understanding of engineering component drawings. - Competent with standard measuring equipment - Vernier's, micrometres, shadowgraphs. - Able to use Microsoft Excel and Word
