Pupil Counsellor (Northfield Academy)
VSA, in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, provides school based counselling services across a number of schools in Aberdeen. This valuable service offer pupils 1:1 sessions to cope with a range of emotional issues ranging from bullying to parental separation. All information shared within the sessions is confidential unless the counsellor feels that the young person is at risk. Young people (over the age of 12 years) can access the service themselves or with support of their guidance teacher, parents and carers.

As part of our work in this area, VSA is currently seeking a Pupil Counsellor to be based at Northfield Academy to provide a counselling service for the children and young people who attend the Academy You will work term time only (40 weeks per annum) for 35 hours per week.

To be considered, you must hold a Diploma in Counselling, be creative and dynamic in your approach and have previous experience of counselling children and young people. You will work alongside pupils, parents and colleagues within education to support children and young people achieve positive outcomes. In addition, you will benefit from clinical supervision and be part of a well-established team of Counsellors within VSA.

You must possess an empathetic nature and an ability to form and maintain trusting and confidential relationships with the pupils. You will be responsible for managing a varied workload and should be a confident and approachable personality.
