We are looking for experienced and highly skilled early years practitioners to be the manager of the above settings. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the expansion of early learning and childcare in Orkney.

You will have experience of working in a nursery, and also have experience of leading aspects of early years practice and development. Your role will involve managing a nursery team, and working with the Local Authority Early Years Service to develop new models and ways of working as we move towards the delivery of 1140 hours.

The post will be for 52 weeks per year, and will involve working different patterns over the week to accommodate a wraparound service, and later a year round service. There may also be times when you support colleagues in other Orkney settings.

You will join a small group of new managers and senior practitioners, and will be able to access development and training for your role.

To be appointed at G9:
You should hold a qualification that meets the requirements of the SSSC as a Practitioner in Day Care of Children Service (minimum of HNC or SVQ3) AND there is a requirement to achieve a relevant qualification to meet SSSC criteria as a Manager / Lead Practitioner in a Day Care of Children Service within 3 years of taking up the post. There will be support given to gain the qualification if you do not already have this.

To be appointed at G10:

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
