Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Spanish Studies
Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Spanish Cultural Studies, which is tenable from 15 January 2018 (or as soon as possible after that date).
You must have a PhD in a relevant field, submitted or very near completion, and demonstrable teaching experience in Spanish cultural studies at university level. Your research may focus on any aspect of Spanish culture, but the position is not open to those working in the field of Hispanic linguistics. Preference may be given to candidates who work on contemporary Spanish culture, or who specialise in the study of Spanish film. Only applicants with a well-developed record of high quality publications, grant capture and PhD supervision will be considered for appointment at senior lecturer level. You must be fluent in English and Spanish. Some involvement in the language teaching activities of the department will be non-negotiable. The following would be highly desirable: experience of assessing translation at undergraduate level, and experience developing online teaching materials. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to empathize with students.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the black and minority ethnic (BME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.
