We have a great new role for a Mortgage Underwriting Manager with a Specialist Mortgage Lender based in Bracknell. Working alongside and supporting the Head of Lending, initially to work in a project capacity to assist with the setup of systems, processes and procedures to launch into residential lending. Ensure regulatory and legislative compliance, maintaining professional communication with individuals and groups, both internally and externally of the organisation. Responsibilities for the role of Underwriting Manager - Support the execution in the delivery of exceptional customer service that builds trust through responsive, accurate, consistent, knowledgeable and available services and support - Ensure all work carried out within the department is compliant to all relevant regulations and legislation including TCF, FCA, MCOB and MMR - Ensure all mortgage applications have been written in accordance with lending policy, TCF and responsible lending principles as well as supporting the department with underwriting when required - To ensure the Company has policies and procedures in place that support brand, customer experience, risk appetite and strategic requirements - Lead, manage and motivate teams to ensure SLA's & KPI's are achieved on a daily, weekly and monthly basis - Deliver effective performance management across team alongside development of people through motivating and building their skills sets through coaching and training to drive results - Lead and manage multiple initiatives for the department, representing Head of Lending in project meetings, being able to confidently make decisions and know when to escalate when necessary - Providing effective input with any group projects including IT system implementation and keeping stakeholders aware of changes within the business - Process mapping and writing business requirements and documentation of all relevant policy and procedure manuals - Prepare and deliver training material regarding any changes to processes, procedures or lending policies and developing relevant training manuals - Generate proactive business and process changes to implement more effective or compliant working procedures - Accurately report weekly MI to Head of Lending, including number of application and cases approved - Ensure cost-effectiveness of all activities and continuously seek productivity and cost- reduction initiatives - Develop and implement business performance measures, providing reports. - Identify industry productivity/ quality standards and benchmark to the rest of the industry - Maintain an awareness of regulatory responsibilities including Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Data Protection Act (DPA) - To continually evaluate the Company's policies and procedures and ensure standards are documented and updated as needed - Foster an environment of continuous improvement and encourage the identification of process improvements/ new ideas, and adopt best practices. Experience required for the position of Underwriting Manager - Current experience of working in a regulated financial services environment specifically for a centralised residential lending business is essential. - Strong capabilities of setting up processes, procedures and working on projects is essential - Experience of stakeholder management and managing the acceptance of change is essential - Extensive front end mortgage processing experience and proven track record of mortgage underwriting, specifically within intermediary based lenders - Senior level mandate holder with experience in underwriting complex residential and Limited Company BTL - Proven managerial experience is essential - Exposures within second charge lending would be highly desirable Salary: Circa £50,000 plus benefits and free onsite parking Location: Bracknell For more information regarding the role of Underwriting Manager please contact us Stellar Select is acting as an employment agency and is a corporate member of the REC Due to a high volume of applications, we will only contact you if your application has been successful.
