Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO)

Location: Norwich, Norfolk

Salary: Teacher’s Main Scale M1-M6 (£22,460 - £33,160)

Aurora Eccles School is an independent specialist day and residential school that caters for children and young people aged 7-19 years who have communication and learning challenges associated with Special Educational Needs (SEN). We are committed to ensuring that each and every child and young person is at the heart of everything that we do.

We are currently looking for a SENCO who will be responsible for the provision of SEN input throughout the school and according to pupil Statements and EHCPs.

The SENCO will have responsibility for the SEN of all pupils (where appropriate) and will have oversight of therapeutic input and other 1 to 1 support. With the assistance of secretarial support, the SENCO will chair and manage our Annual Review process.

The SENCO will line manage 1 to 1 teachers, visiting specialists and TAs. The successful candidate will also have responsibility for the administration and assessing for Access Arrangements for public examinations. The SENCO will be expected to provide leadership to the whole staff group and ensure that the School’s SEN strategy is implemented by all teachers and assistants. This will include:

  • Chairing Annual Reviews
  • Managing performance reviews for appropriate staff
  • Providing Inset to all staff and ensuring that teachers are aware of individual needs
  • Assisting the Head with admissions and associated interviews and assessments
  • To implement the aims of the school
  • Collating AFL data for the purposes of LAC and PEP meeting cycles
