Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Contractors Engineering Manager to join our Rail team based in Exeter. The Contractors Engineering Manager will operate as part of the Civils and Enhancements business unit of Balfour Beatty Rail and will be accountable for the delivery of engineering on the Building and Civils Framework in the South West Area. What you'll be doing This is a varied and interesting role. On a day to day basis you will be responsible for: - Ensuring adequate surveys and ground investigation has been carried out. - Health and Safety adherence during the design and construction of the project. - Carrying out Assessment and Nominations of discipline CRE's for acceptance. - Recognising the need for involvement of other railway disciplines and the nomination/appointment of discipline engineers as necessary. - Producing and Managing the Engineering Management Plan including a clear interface plan between the CRE's. - Carrying out the full life cycle of Technical Assurance from design, implementation and operation. - Managing the engineering schedules and deliverables. - Managing project risks and maintaining HAZARD logs, ensuring processes are fully briefed. Who we're looking for To be successful in this role, you will have; - Experience in Design Management - A thorough understanding of Design Integration, including inter-disciplinary checks, BIM and other forms of system modelling. - Experience with construction processes. - Experience in problem solving within a rail environment and developing solutions for build. - Knowledge of Testing & Commissioning processes.
