Earl Mountbatten Hospice has embarked on a new and exciting stage in its evolution, in partnership with the University of Southampton. Our aim is to further develop Hospice services by creating a centre of recognised excellence for education and learning.

As a first step, we are seeking to appoint a Head of Education and Research who will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the education and research strategy for the hospice. Key components of this visionary leadership role will be: building and growing the educational and research provisions through programme design, exploring a range of different funding mechanisms and maintaining and broadening external relationships,

As part of its 35th Anniversary, Earl Mountbatten Hospice is about to embark on a £1.5m Capital Appeal to create a new centre for end of life care in the community, which will include a new suite of purposely designed education, training and learning spaces.

The Role

As Head of Education and Research you will report directly to the Chief Executive. You will continue to build on the existing growth and reputation of the hospice as an outstanding lead provider of specialist palliative and end of life care education both regionally, nationally and internationally. You will promote and support the Hospice’s values through all aspects of your role.

You will be a Registered Health Care professional with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience and hold a master’s degree. You will also hold or be working towards your PhD or Clinical Doctorate and have academic experience of teaching in a university setting. There is exciting potential to develop and grow an already existing partnership with the University of Southampton in all areas of education, learning, workforce development, research and evaluation.
