Would you like to play a key role in the development, maintenance and modification of engineering processes and procedures for the Type 45 Destroyer? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer (Requirements and Acceptance) based from our Bristol, Portsmouth or Scotstoun sites.
As a Principal Engineer, you will be providing provide specialist engineering expertise to organise and co-ordinate significant aspects of engineering activity within the business, in order to ensure defined objectives are achieved whilst continually maintaining quality and cost.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a highly complex marine engineering area, influencing and defining the way in which the project is undertaken.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer (Requirements and Acceptance) will involve:
Carrying out complex technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability
Preparing specifications and developing designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards and carrying out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained
Carrying out investigations into operational problems or developments and developing and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team
Acting as the main point of contact with customers and suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters, to resolve relatively complex problems and issues and to maintain awareness in both parties of priorities and objectives
Supporting the identification of business opportunities and the preparation of bids in areas of expertise to facilitate the development of the highest quality bids
Your skills and qualifications:
Degree qualified in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
Leadership experience within a multi-disciplined engineering environment
Experience performing robust analysis, using recognised analytical tools
Experience within marine engineering
