We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who has a background in the development of Electro - mechanical assemblies to join a leading nanotechnology company developing special purpose machinery in Oxfordshire. Their successful nano-coating technologies have taken the mobile electronics marketplace by storm. You will be a key player in the design of new machines and processes, maintaining and managing ongoing improvements to existing machines, will possess excellent problem solving skills and a flair for creativity. Responsibilities: To design and develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings in SolidWorks for the improvement of current and future manufacturing processes applying knowledge of component / product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. To liaise with suppliers. To create and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOMs) for all products. To develop concepts by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and prototyping. To work in conjunction with automation engineering in the design of jigs and fixtures for "ease of manufacturability" and quality (repeatability) improvement. Project manage with hands-on ownership of all aspects of prototype developments, from detailed design through to final validation. Ensure all prototypes are built to the correct/desired standard and are validated for use. To maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all work in formats required. To work as part of a larger team . Assisting the R&D, Service & Support and Manufacturing teams as and when required. Requirements: Bachelor`s degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering is preferred. Extensive experience in mechanical design role. Design and draughting in both 2D and 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred). Knowledge of a wide range of materials and manufacturing processes in machining, plastic injection moulding and stamping. Experience in product development with exposure to supplier sourcing, prototyping, design validation, mass production release. Design calculations and the application of advanced simulation / CAE techniques. Creating / participating in FMEAs. Design of Experiment programs and Design Verification Plans. Experience of CE / UL standards would be advantageous. Participating in activities with cross disciplinary project teams. Construction and maintenance of BOMs. Take reasonable care of your own or other colleagues' health and safety. Key Attributes Self-motivated & detail orientated. Good communication skills.
