I am currently recruiting on behalf of an Independent day and boarding school who are looking for a Teacher of English for a part-time position starting in January 2018.

Their outward looking ethos aims to encourage a genuine enthusiasm for learning and an ability to independently explore subjects beyond the classroom.

The pastoral care within the school is a central pillar in which the success of the school is based and they are proud of their quality of care and opportunity given to every pupil. They offer a programme of extra-curricular activities and the students are encouraged to find their talent whatever that may be. The school is on a 60 acre site and has a combination of resourced historic and modern buildings.

Your role:
As a Teacher of English, you will report directly to the Head of Department and be required to plan and prepare courses and lessons. You will teach according to the students educational needs and asses, record and report on the development and progress of the pupils in your class.

You are also required to promote the general progress and well-being of individual pupils assigned to you and provide guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters. You will make records and reports on the personal and social needs of the students and communicate and consult with the parents.

Other activities will include accompanying pupils on trips away from the school and contributing to the extra-curricular life of the school as well as attending school functions. You will participate in assemblies and chapel services as well as contributing to the maintenance of the school environment.

About you:
As a Teacher of English it is essential that you have a subject specific degree and excellent subject knowledge as well as PGCE or equivalent. You must have the ability to teach from KS3 to A-Level and have a passion for literature. You will have a proven commitment to CPD and energetic and enthusiastic approach to teaching.

If you are well-qualified and enthusiastic graduate and are looking to teach English to GCSE and A-Level within a thriving and successful department. This part-time post could be suitable for you. The school will accept applications from exceptional NQTS and the ability to teach EAL would be an advantage.
