An excellent opportunity to work as a DevOps Engineer for a leading Service Provider


A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Devops Engineer to join our thriving Global Infrastructure Operations team. We are seeking an engineer with experience in end to e end automation development and delivery. They need to be self-starter and must be able to work in high pressure environments and adhere to strict deadlines.

Within this exciting position, you will be responsible for working with the business stakeholders to understand the problems, propose the business solution, design and build the automation process and problem solve along the way.

In this role, you will be expected to display deep understanding of the end to end automation development process including requirements, analysis, architecture and solution design, build, testing and deployment.

ROLE BRIEF

  • Works across teams to determine how best to leverage tools and techniques involving infrastructure as code, configuration management and other DevOps-type techniques to improve delivery quality, speed and experience
  • Seeks to find opportunities to reduce manual updates/changes needed to complete deployments and standard maintenance tasks
  • Seeks to build reusable, repeatable automation products for current and future customers
  • Works closely with the Devops automation lead to drive the team forward and establish a Continuous Improvement-Continuous Delivery (CI-CD) culture across operations
  • Consumes and provides feedback to product delivery teams on ways products can be more usable and accessible for internal and external programmatic use (API and above)
  • Continuously evolves and drives a pipeline of automation activity to provide flow and drive efficiencies across global operations
  • Works across the Group in an operational and service delivery capacity to assure a global adoption of core principals
  • Provides architectural steer and guidance to assure optimal delivery models and velocity using correct processes and tooling
  • Continuously strives to enhance capabilities around optimisation of our services
  • Instils an automation first culture that is based on loosely coupled tooling approach
  • Some travel will be required across key UK sites (Milton Keynes and Hatfield in particular)


EXPERIENCE

  • History of Engineering and SysAdmin/Ops roles
  • History of managed services
  • Experience of either development and or scripting, multi technology environments
  • Experience of troubleshooting cross-technology complex infrastructure issues
  • Ideally experienced with both Windows and at least one of the UNIX Variants (Solaris / HP-UX / AIX / Linux)
  • Working knowledge of some of the following development languages Python, PowerShell 3.x>, Bash, Perl, SQL, HTML, Java, JavaScript
  • Good understanding of web technologies, scripting languages, databases, virtual machine environments
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure automation tooling (scripting languages vs coding vs tooling - Ansible)
  • Understanding of application deployment/configuration processes
  • Ideally understands source code control, preferably Git
  • Able to estimate technical solutions down to a task level to assist with planning and forecasting
  • Able to convert in-flight technical work to readable documentation which is both precise and presentable
  • Able to handle working with ambiguity and demonstrates capacity to contribute to the success of a team
  • Interested in technology how it continues to grow
