It consists of three business areas focusing on Vehicles, Special Projects and Mission Support, which provide a variety of products and services to the MoD and other customers including the Warrior CSP, Scout and support to the Land Environment Air Picture Provision capability. With a significant percentage of the companies revenue being subcontracted to key partners and suppliers, the Sub-contracts function is fundamental to business success. Part of this transformation sees the establishment a supplier Intelligence capability. This organisation will play a key part in identifying and developing relationships with key suppliers aimed at enhancing Ampthill's competitiveness and its product delivery. It will provide the operational support to improve day to day sub-contractor performance through developing and driving the supplier excellence programme. This role will be responsible as part of a small team for developing and delivering this new capability focusing on achieving supplier excellence for existing suppliers. Programme: Ampthill - Functional Specific Job Description: The post is accountable to the Head of Supply Chain Development initially for the development of the supplier improvement capability and ultimately delivery of the supplier improvement programme. *Developing and documenting the supplier segmentation tools and processes: oEstablishing a consistent and coherent approach oUsing a variety of techniques and models fine-tuned to meet the specific needs of the Ampthill business and based on best practice *Supply Base capability, capacity, and performance management: oEstablishing a consistent and coherent approach for new capability identification and verification oFacilitate a robust process to manage existing vendor performance and usage *Supporting and documenting the execution of supplier segmentation: oCollating data and providing recommendations oDefining templates oEstablishing a suitable data repository *Prioritising supplier excellence activities: oDefining the focus for development and management effort across the supply base that generates maximum impact on product delivery with minimal programme disruption *Developing supplier management strategies for 'focus' suppliers: oDefining the type of engagement (e.g. invest, support, improve, divest) oWorking with sub contract managers and procurement leads in particular oSupporting and promoting the development of the Supplier Relationship Management framework Functional AreaAmpthill - Supply Chain Required skills, qualifications and experience *Strong procurement and business analytical skills. *Knowledge and experience of using SAP or other similar ERP/MRP systems *A strong team player *Able to work independently with accountability to a wider team *Ability to formulate actions plans and to achieve change *Delivery of change and improved performance in complex supplier environments *Ability to facilitating solutions. *Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal). *Enthusiastic, determined and committed. *Confident self-starter, ability to innovate and think laterally. *Capable of operating to tight schedules in a dynamic work environment. *Flexibility to travel as required.
