Job Title: Mechanical Design / Test & Development Engineer Salary: £35000 - £40000 pa Location: Oxfordshire JOB OVERVIEW Organise, implement, analyse and communicate the test & development of components, assemblies and systems. Permanent position in R&D. DUTIES -Component schemes and first level analysis -Design FMEA -Complete and release detailed drawings -Being an active member of the Project Team -Work with suppliers, inspection, and production department to deliver prototype parts for test and development -Work with test and development to formulate validation plans and feed the results back into design FMEAs -Resolve component concerns -Formulate and coordinate tests/experiments and inspection requirements to support a variety of on-going product development and improvement activities -Detailed analysis of test results and inspection data -Produce technical reports, specifications, test plans, and other engineering related documentation -Contribute suggestions and ideas for improvements -CAD modelling, drafting and releasing of engineering drawings -Work closely with other departments including Mechanical Design, Project Management, and Operations to ensure relevant information is communicated -Liaise with key suppliers, resolve component concerns EXPERIENCE -Relevant Engineering degree with mechanical bias -Development or analytical role in high-tech, precision engineering -Design/development experience, preferably in high speed rotating machinery -Understanding of rotor dynamics, noise and vibration -Understanding of heat transfer and thermodynamics -CAD (NX preferred but not essential) -DFMEA & PFMEA -Analysis using Abaqus or Nastran an advantage -Composites an advantage -Solid modelling and detail drafting capabilities essential -Experience in reliability engineering an advantage -FE Analysis using Abaqus or Nastran an advantage -A keen, inquisitive attitude towards all aspects of mechanical engineering -Must possess strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem solving skills -Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment -Hands-on approach -Significant Design experience, ideally for low cost production -Knowledge of relevant production processes, materials and assembly techniques APPLY Please contact Toby Richardson at Resource Group either by telephone: [Phone number removed] or email: [Email address removed] Resource Group are acting as an employment business/agency in relation to this vacancy.
