Senior IT Applications Technologist (SQL C# .Net) National Cat Centre, Chelwood Gate, Sussex £36,321.62 DOE per annum, plus excellent benefits Cats Protection is the UK's leading feline welfare charity. We now help around 190,000 cats and kittens through our network of over 250 volunteer-run branches and 34 adoption centres and homing centres. The key responsibilities of the Senior IT Applications Technologist are; - To ensure that all assigned immediate development work, upgrades, and support requests are dealt with to agreed levels of service and customer satisfaction. - To participate (and sometimes lead) projects utilising SQL and C# .Net skills as required - To support and enhance existing systems and functionality (using SQL / C# .Net) - To support and train other members of the Applications Team This role requires excellent T-SQL skills (with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a support/development role) and basic knowledge of C# .Net (using an object orientation methodology). In this role, you will deputise for the IT Applications Manager in their absence. You will also ensure that all assigned upgrade & implementation project work is completed professionally & documented, on time, and to agreed specifications. The post holder will also: - Maintain a high level of availability and integrity for all of Cats Protection IT systems, resolving issues & requests in the most responsive, efficient, and cost-effective manner, whilst maintaining accurate and complete logs. - Supply & implement IT systems and solutions that are robust and fit for purpose, enabling all sites, departments, volunteers and Branches to gain maximum benefit and productivity from their use of IT. - Undertake (and sometimes lead) projects for new IT system implementations and upgrades - particularly where impacting databases, software, & data - Assist the IT Applications Manager to work within project budgets & expenditure - Offer professional help, assistance, and support (which may include training, demonstrations, and presentations), to all staff, Branches and volunteers for IT applications and systems. - Write user documentation and guidelines that are easy for the target audience to understand. Provide support and guidance to make sure these are followed. - Understand and adhere to all IT policies and procedures, suggesting improvements in these areas - Understand and support the strategic and technical direction for IT across the Charity. - Contribute to the ongoing development, execution, and review of organisational Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity plans as impacting IT systems. - Provide support and backup to other IT functions when staff are absent. - In effectively undertaking this role, some travel to other Cats Protection sites, Branches, external conferences and other organisations may be required, and there may be requirements for activities to be undertaken outside normal working hours. In common with all posts, ensure compliance with Cats Protection's policies and procedures, statutory obligations and best practice, and to undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required by the Chief Executive. We are looking for someone with the following essential skills, knowledge and experience: - At least five years' relevant experience - GCSE literacy & numeracy qualifications - Experience of supporting Windows 7 or above based laptop/desktop configurations across a multi-site environment through a private WAN and public cloud environment - Experience of Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, SQL and/or .Net - Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications - including Windows & Outlook - Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work on own initiative, generating own work with minimal input - Experience of identifying needs, delivering a service and developing relationships at a range of levels in an organisation - Able to travel within the UK To reward you we have a pay scheme which provides the opportunity to progress within your pay band, subject to satisfactory performance.
