We have a great new opportunity for an Embedded Systems Architect to join us here at Microlise, we are looking for someone with a passion for technology, product reliability and quality to drive the continued development and enhancement of our telematics products.

Main responsibilities:

Providing technical leadership to define, develop and deploy embedded firmware for complex automotive telematics systemsManage and develop a team of circa 20 embedded firmware engineers and automated test developers, some of which are remotely located.Planning and regular reporting on progressEssential Criteria:

Proven experience of real-time embedded firmware development in C / C++ ideally within the automotive sectorExtensive experience of architectural design of embedded systemsFamiliar with in-vehicle communications systems and protocols (e.g. CAN, K-line, J1708, J1939, OBDII, UDS, etc.) and associated industry standard test tools.Experience with GSM/GPRS, GPS/GNSS, SPI, I2C, Dallas 1 wire, WiFi, Bluetooth/BLE, TCP/IP networkingSoftware configuration management (e.g. git, SVN)Best practices regarding security of embedded devicesComplex build and automated test environmentsAgile development methodologiesAbility to read and understand schematic diagrams and semiconductor datasheetsGood coordination and problem solving skillsPeople management experience Excellent communication skills both written and oral.Desirable Criteria:

Previous IoT systems experienceExperience of MISRA CStatic analysis methods and tools (e.g. LINT)An understanding of ISO26262 or other functional safety standards relating to embedded firmware developmentPenetration testing practices for embedded devicesDatabase design and SQL developmentWhy Microlise?
