My client are looking for an established Head of Audit and Risk with immediate availability to work in a consultative capacity, focusing on the regeneration of the Annual Audit plan with a renewed focus on Risk management.

As the Interim Head of Audit & Risk, you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and recommending improvement to the current risk management approach, liaising with senior management to influence and guide the organisations current framework;

  • Challenge the current practices and bring innovation to the role and current processes;

  • Manage the Internal Audit function (2 staff members);

  • Meeting the risk management and reporting requirements to Finance and Audit Committee;

You will be based in central London with no requirement to travel.


As the successful candidate, you will be a qualified accountant with extensive experience leading Internal Audit and Risk functions. You will be an established Audit and Risk professional with extensive consulting experience in Assurance and Risk management; you will therefore be able to demonstrate prior experience of 'value-add' roles where you have influenced and developed and internal audit and risk function, particularly in developing an organisation's approach to risk management. You will ideally have experience of the not-for-profit and/or charity sectors, and a familiarity with fundraising audit, compliance and frameworks. You must be able to demonstrate prior management and leadership experience in medium scale organisations.

You will have the ability to influence at Board and Trustee levels of the organisation, and will be expected to advise these stakeholders on current transformation projects as well as Risk and Audit matters.
