The Enterprise Architect is responsible for overseeing the architecture and technical direction of the IT Applications and Systems, ensuring that the use of technology is aligned with the overall company direction and business strategy. The Enterprise Architect may manage a small, dedicated team of Solution Architects as required by the business initiative, as well as being responsible for developing the enterprise architecture in line with the Business Strategy. Â Role Responsibilities - Develop a close understanding of the company direction and business strategy - Build relationships with business functions to identify the potential application of emerging technology, and to promote modern technology to ensure business buy-in and sponsorship - Responsible for building and maintaining the technology strategy and roadmaps for all the systems. - Understand the technologies in use within the company and by other business partners - Responsible for building and maintaining a repository of technical documentation to disseminate an understanding of our architecture. - Responsible for the overall architecture & design resource -responsibilities including work allocation & prioritisation for the team - Responsible for running the Technical Design Authority process to ensure that appropriate technical decisions are taken and to prevent the uncontrolled proliferation of technologies. - Responsible for evaluating emerging technologies, and identifying ways to exploit them for the benefit of the business Skills & Experience - Extensive experience in IT in an insurance or financial services environment - Ability to grasp new concepts and relate these to business situations - Extensive experience in designing, building or implementing IT systems, across Applications, Data and IT Infrastructure. - Ability to think problems and solutions through clearly - Proven knowledge of, and previous exposure to, a wide range of technologies and the ability to relate those to the technology in use or planned. - Structured investigative and analytical skills required - Demonstrable evidence of working within the full system development lifecycle process - Able to understand at a detailed level how the various components of an IT infrastructure fit together. - Able to articulate this in written and spoken words to both technical and non-technical staff.
