You want to make a direct contribution to the team and be part of a leading UK telecoms company. You will have done a computer science or a science based degree such as physics or mathematics. Alternatively you may have done a joint honours degree with a business or financial element but not quite sure whether to head down the Finance or IT route. This role combines the technical skills with the business acumen and problem solving in order to resolve real live issues and to keep critical systems running in a challenging but exciting environment. We want your enthusiasm so you can learn or build upon your technical skills. Here at Gamma we use Microsoft SQL databases with Java front ends that use the latest Java components. We also use scripting languages such as PHP and PowerShell. If you already have experience in any of these, then great, however what we are looking for is to see is whether you have the determination and confidence to learn them. You want to join a graduate placement program where you can see opportunities to grow, develop and rewarded for your hard work and ability. What type of things will I do? We are currently looking for someone to technically support key provisioning systems which allows our customers to set-up, manage and configure array of services from mobile to VOIP services. This will involve understanding how the websites interact with back end databases and middleware components using your technical Java, SQL and problem solving skills. There is scope to develop internal support tools to make this process more efficient. One recent example was building a website that would make it much easier for support staff to review and update tickets raised in a separate system, without the need to open up the fat client application, which is slow and chunky.
