We have an opportunity for an experienced marketing professional to join us as our Head of Communications based in Pembury, near Tunbridge Wells on a full time, permanent basis. You will receive a salary of £34,069 per annum plus benefits including generous pension scheme and holiday allowance (including opportunity to buy and sell holiday), Subsidised restaurant, Child care vouchers, Free parking and Cycle to work scheme. Hospice in the Weald is a registered charity and not part of the NHS. We rely on support from the community we serve, both through volunteering time and donating money, to enable us to continue our existing services. It costs over £7 million to run the Hospice every year - the majority of which comes from voluntary contributions from the general public. In addition, there are over 1000 volunteers giving their time to the Hospice helping in every Service and Department. As our Head of Communications you will devise, plan and oversee the implementation of the Marketing and External Communications strategy. You will help develop our approach to insights marketing and manage our brand in line with our strategic aims. You will also have a flair for engaging with all stakeholders, as well as communicating with patients, families and carers with ease, diplomacy and sensitivity. The Head of Communications duties and key responsibilities: - Develop a "Marketing and External Communications strategy", to include SMART objectives that support the Hospice in the Weald 3-year Strategy, and effectively manages our reputation. - Develop and evaluate inbound marketing approaches. - Achieve maximum media coverage for Hospice in the Weald across all relevant channels. - Ensure that Hospice in the Weald is appropriately represented in print and digital media. - Propose the annual Communications and Marketing budget to the Income Generation Director. - Manage costs throughout the year to achieve value for money. - Support the Hospice Leadership Team in managing any potential reputational risks to the Hospice. - Lead and guide others to maximise the promotion of income generation and Hospice wide activity. - Work with the Executive Assistant who leads on internal communications to ensure the Hospice maintains a joined up approach to both internal and external communications. - Act as the organisation's Data Protection Officer and ensure that all communications and marketing activity is compliant with relevant regulation e.g. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); Fundraising Regulator, and any appropriate successor bodies. - Proactively monitor and report on media coverage, taking rapid action as necessary to ensure agreed targets are achieved. - Maintain awareness, and ensure the implementation of all relevant legislation - develop and evolve good practices. Our ideal Head of Communications will have the below skills and experience: - CIM/IDM/CIPR (or similar) professional qualification - A high standard of education, at least A level or equivalent - A to C grade in English at GCSE (or equivalent) - At least three years' experience of working in a marketing or communications role - Working with a CRM database to generate insights - Generating media coverage through a range of channels. - Applying marketing principles to fundraising / charity We are looking for someone who can translate easily and effectively all that we do and achieve, using the latest technology and most appropriate and impactful mediums of communication. You will be a creative thinker, able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of marketing and communications planning and management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as is experience of working with and managing a CRM database.
