Senior Hardware Engineer Cambridge £45k - £50k + Benefits Permanent My client who is an indoor wireless and cell coverage company is currently looking for Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced senior hardware engineer to join the team. In this role you will be reporting to the Hardware Team Lead, the successful candidate will be an experienced electronic engineer with good all-round skills including some RF knowledge, and proven ability to take ownership for delivering mixed-signal circuit board and product designs successfully into production. Tasks and responsibilities will include: - Hardware architecture, schematic design, overseeing PCB layout, circuit board bring-up and debugging, design verification testing, and NPI & production support - Selection and evaluation of new electronic components and circuits - Design and validation of a range of electronic circuit functions including power, analogue and mixed-signal, digital & microcontrollers, and RF & photonic - Work closely with external PCB layout and mechanical design consultants to deliver circuit board and product designs - Some support for regulatory compliance testing and factory test development The successful applicant to this role will have: - A good degree in Electronic Engineering or Physics or related technical subject. - Post-graduate experience of the full product development life-cycle including architecting, designing, optimising, debugging and testing mixed-signal electronic circuits and products. - Significant experience with CAD schematic capture, and PCB layout practices & design reviews. - Good knowledge of power, analogue & digital components. Designing within cost constraints. - Knowledge of best design practices for product reliability, lifetime, DFM and DFT, thermals. - Good 'hands-on' practical lab skills relevant to electronic product development. - A good working knowledge of test equipment typically used for electronic circuit validation. - Well-organised with initiative and ability to take responsibility for delivering assigned projects. Desirable skills are: - Experience with Mentor PADS schematic capture and PCB layout CAD tools. - Any RF design or testing of RF hardware up to 6 GHz, or experience with optical/photonics components, optical communications or RF over fibre. - Involvement with hardware/RF test software development, or definition of software requirements for configuration, control and monitoring of hardware/RF functions. - Familiarity with automated test equipment, instrumentation and tools/software such as Labview and Visual Basic or scripting languages.
