Solutions Architect - Business Intelligence
Background
My client has made a strategic decision to develop a corporate wide Business Intelligence Hub and use data analytics and business insight to leverage data to drive improvements in operational efficiency, service delivery and better outcomes for local people and communities.
A Solutions Architect is now required to lead on the IT elements of this project including assessment of business/information requirements, architectural design, product / solution evaluation and selection, solution design and delivery.
Overview of Role

Review / Assessment of:
*BI requirements, outcomes to be achieved
*Current information architectures/stores
*Identification of data / sources required to meet and deliver the BI requirements
*Confirm with BI Team Current levels of data quality
*ETL (Extract Transform Load), cleansing and data quality valid requirements

Solutions Design
*Options review and design of BI and information architectures
*Assessment and selection of cloud compatible tools/products required to deliver required architectures
*Assessment and selection of solution partners if/as required

Solution Design and Delivery:

As technical lead, work with the business, business intelligence team, IT staff - technical and applications, suppliers to:
*Complete and implement design/solutions for the overall Business Intelligence architecture
*Produce a roadmap/plan for design and delivery of specific Business Intelligence solutions - in the first instance, a small number of pilot/prototype applications of BI
*Deliver required component applications of BI, identifying risks/issues and mitigating actions.

Candidates for this role must have (E - essential, D - desirable)
*Proven prior experience in the role of Solutions Architect / Technical Lead (E)
*Proven experience of selection, design, delivery and implementation of substantial Business Intelligence solutions (E) - in a sizeable central or local government organisation - (D)
*In-depth understanding of business intelligence architectures and solutions, application architectures and storage architectures (E)
*Proven experience of both High and Low level Business Intelligence architecture design (E)
*Proven knowledge and experience of ETL, Data Quality validation, Master Data Management, Information Modelling, Data Analytics, Data Hub/Database design (E)
*Good knowledge and experience of CRM or similar products and how they may enable/support BI - (D)
*Good project management and staff supervision skills/experience - (D)
*Good communication and team working skills, ability to work closely and effectively with IT colleagues, 3rd party suppliers, specialist Business Intelligence staff and key business stakeholders. (E)
